Directional Drilling

  • Work on execution of drilling programs with drilling supervisors, well site geologists, LWD/MWD field engineers, rig managers, drillers, and other personnel on drilling projects.
  • Prepare and make up directional bottom-hole assemblies different sizes and configurations.
  • Efficiently execute directional, S-type, and horizontal well paths including extended lateral applications.
  • Geo-steer with a bottom hole assembly in thin layer and undulating formation beds.
  • Monitor and change drilling parameters and down-hole hydraulics to optimize penetration rate, minimize torque and drag issues to enable efficient casing and cement job.
  • Work with positive displacement motors, rotary steerable assemblies.
  • Directional drill wells with tight-hole problems, high pressure and temperature wells.
  • Plan and execute open hole and whip-stock sidetracks.
  • Build three dimensional well plans using a few well planning programs.
  • Prepare daily and final drilling reports, directional surveys with plots, operational cost estimates.
  • Execute directional applications in a safe manner, manage and report incidents.
  • Train other directional drillers on all aspects of drilling, directional calculations and geometry, projecting, well planning, and on practical execution of the well plan.
  • Designed and built own client-server application featuring directional surveys, projecting to targets, well planning, proximity calculation, and graphs.
